Folkestone Downs: Holywell Fen, Fen Cutting.
The first of this year's annual cut and rake a section of Holyweel fen, to benefit the wildlife of this scarce wetland habitat. LEADER: Phil Green, Whire Cliffs Countryside Partnership. History of Hythe and The Cinque Ports
A leisurely walk around Old Hythe, including St Leonard's Church and Crypt. CHARGE: 50p per person (crypt extra), which includes a descriptive leaflet. No need to book. A leisurely Walk Along the Stour.
Leaving West Stourmouth church we will walk across the fields to the river, following the Stour towards Red Bridge returning back across the fields. there should be blackberries along the way. Creatures Of The Night - A Guided Walk.
Join our local expert for an informal introduction to bats, moths and other creatures of the night over homemade soup and bread, followed by a walk out at dusk to set up a moth trap and listen to bats with bat detectors. Great fun for all the family. Wear appropriate clothing and bring a torch. Limited spaces so pre booking advisable. CHARGE: £10.00

We will be maintaining and clearing footpaths, kissing gates and maybe repairing some steps and fencing. We may be working on a steep slope, so wear boots with a good grip please. Descend from the western Heights to the sites of some WW2 anti - invasion measures, the Provost prison, a Victorian gun battery, royal Military Hospital and the Archcliffe Yard.
